PROVIDE ADVANCED RESUSCITATION &
OXYGEN THERAPY
This Advanced Resuscitation course is delivered in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines and first aid code of practice and applies to those who may be required to provide first aid, CPR and oxygen in a range of complex situations, including community and workplace settings.

Simulated real-life situations will be used to develop the skills and knowledge for using and maintaining specialised equipment for the provision of first aid, resuscitation, and oxygen therapy.
Instruction on first aid and CPR will be provided, as well as treatments specific to advanced conditions, such as inserting an appropriate basic airway adjunct, using tourniquets and haemostat dressings for life-threatening bleeding, and administering oxygen safely at the correct flow rate.
The course covers recording casualty condition, conveying incident details, completing workplace incident documentation, and debriefing to recognise areas for improvement, psychological impacts, and seeking help as required.
Certificate
Upon completion of this training, students will receive a Statement of Attainment for HLTAID015, incorporating HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation within 30 days via PDF and/or hard copy, as per the Australian Skills Quality Authority regulations of successful course completion.
Entry
To enrol, students must be a minimum of 16 years of age. This ensures the student has the necessary skills to undertake training and assessment requirements.
USI
New or continuing students undertaking nationally recognised training need a Unique Student Identifier (USI) to receive a qualification/statement of attainment for this unit.
Your USI will provide you with access to an online record of your training since 1 January 2015 and allow comprehensive training transcripts to be produced. To find out more about USIs, click here. Enrolling students should enter their existing USI to proceed with enrolment.

Students who do not provide a valid USI will be deemed an incomplete enrolment. Students who do not complete the enrolment process and provide a valid USI within 15 business days of the course date, will be unenrolled.
Course Duration

6 hours face-to-face practical workshop.
Assessment
Students will be assessed individually and in group activities. Students need to display competency in all assessable elements to successfully complete the unit package HLTAID015 accreditation. Assessment is conducted using the following methods:

Scenario assessment– Students are required to demonstrate the essential skills and knowledge to respond to a range of first aid or emergency situations, including scenarios aligned with the performance criteria required for this program.

Demonstration of CPR procedures– Students will demonstrate CPR on training manikins – adult, child and infant – as per the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines.

Demonstration of oxygen resuscitation/oxygen therapy techniques– Students are required, individually and as a group, to demonstrate competency in a range of oxygen resuscitation/oxygen therapy techniques.

Written questions– Students must complete a multiple choice assessment task, either as a group exercise or individually, with a 100% pass rate required.

Oropharyngeal airway adjunct.

Oxygen resuscitation system with oxygen cylinder.

Selection of oxygen masks with tubing; nasal cannula, therapy mask, resuscitation mask with oxygen port.

Suction device.

Workplace incident, injury, trauma or illness record or other appropriate workplace incident report form.
